
90, Carmel, Indiana, peacefully passed away on November 29th, 2015 after a short term illness. She was born March 8, 1925 in Indianapolis, the only child of Irene and Marion Abbett. She was the loving wife of Col. Harry M. Sanders MD for 61 Years prior to his death in 2007.
Preceding her in death were her parents and step-father, J.D. Houchin. She was a graduate of Bloomington High School, and attended Indiana University, majoring in theater. Ann is survived by five children, Lisa Childers MD (Ray), Beth Sanders (Phillip Arno), Harry M. Sanders III (Mari), Susan Driesbach, and Merry Mayer (Mike). Grandchildren include Ali, Meg, Jeff, Indy, Harry IV, Avery, and Payton. Six great-grandchildren Camila, Ayden, Evan, Zachary, Austin, and Talen.
Ann worked in advertising and marketing for Blocks department store. She was active in the Sunnyside Guild, Washington Township PTO, and directed and produced the amateur theatre, Fall Creek Follies. Ann spent years fostering her love of the arts, literature, science, and music with her entire family. She was an active artist, pianist, and vocalist. She appreciated classic literature and actively donated time to the Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts along with all of her children’s interests.
The family wishes to thank her caring friends, Janet Baines, Nancy Cochran, and Yolanda Braddick.
Visitation will be held at Indiana Funeral Care and Crematory, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville road, Tuesday, December 8, 5-7 PM. Funeral services will begin at 7PM. A graveside ceremony will be conducted at Washington Park East Cemetery on December 9, 2015 at 10 AM.
Flowers can be sent to the chapel or donations to Trinity Free Clinic, Carmel, Indiana, Echo, North Fort Myers, Florida, Or the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra.
